Let the fear drive you through

Fear is that four letter word, that either gets you going towards your target or lets you leave everything and think of uncertain thoughts. Yes, it really is both good and bad for us. Its how we take it or rather how we face it decides the role of fear in our lives.

There are, as per my knowledge, only two types of fear; the fear of failure & the fear of rejection. Both of these sound so negative, but if worked upon correctly, can have their own advantages. Yes, you read it right, they can be of your advantage, only if we understand how bad their disadvantages can be. Talking of both the types, we will understand that we face or we possess both of them depending upon the situations we are in or the consequences we face.

Fear of failure is the one that we've been petting in our minds from the time we started walking or maybe just crawling. We put every step with utmost fear of falling on the ground once we started walking by ourselves. And, that was the first fear that played a positive role in our lives. This fear of failing at things is so common that we don't even know we are missing so much of fun just by being scared of maybe trying to do new things or appearing for that exam that would make a better career for us but is said to be very difficult to pass. It gradually keeps growing in our minds as we grow up, but how do we face it like we did while walking on our own for the first time, is where the challenge lies.

Fear of rejection is simply underestimating yourself. It starts once we start socializing. It may just be a constant fear, like having a fear of getting rejected from being part of a group of cool guys in school or maybe getting rejected by a girl who you like so much, or simply getting rejected in a job interview. Well, being antisocial is a choice people make out of it. An introvert is a name they give themselves, for not being able to share or simply fearing of not getting accepted. Ultimately, people end up being less approachable & more secretive. Sometimes, its the fear of failure that is a reason behind the fear of rejection.

What's easier said than done is facing these fears, but, yes, it is doable. Hence, I said in the beginning that the fear is something that gets you going. When you fall into a river & you can't swim, you have no choice but to try swimming to save yourself from drowning. When you study harder than before to clear that exam that once scared you, your fear of failure is getting you going towards your target. When you prepare better than before, for the job interview that you know is going to change your professional life, that's the fear of rejection working positively for you. Yes, it is impossible to not possess any fear, but facing that fear to get what's on the other side of it, is one of the greatest pleasures in life.
